5 Decorating Tips for Verbena Wallpaper
SP's newest wallpaper, Verbena, is finally here and joining our collection!
Our Sister Parish community loves timeless, beautiful wallpaper designs that are fresh and whimsical enough for a guest room, a little girl's room. or a sumptuous primary bedroom. When I set about dreaming up a new print or matching wallpaper, I sift through our archives and think of rooms that I have loved, and colors emerge from all of this mental mix. This is how our wallpaper Verbena, launching in luxurious happy colors, came about.
The Maine bedroom that inspired it all
My great grandmother Sister loved a pretty flower wallpaper and many times she layered floral curtains on top of a floral paper with botanical prints hanging on the walls to top it off! She was playful when it came to layering anything floral on top of one another. Along these lines, there is a guest room at our house in Maine with one chintz on the canopy beds, one wall covered in a floral and striped wallpaper, curtains in another chintz and flower paintings on the walls. This was my absolute favorite room as a little girl and our new Verbena wallpaper comes right out of my dreams of this room. Pretty is a word you don't hear that often and decorating something for pretty's sake and nothing else at all I think sums up our new Verbena wallpaper. Coincidentally, this was Sister's highest compliment when she examined fabrics and wallpapers and chose what she would like.
- Paint your trim
- Paint your trim
Benjamin Moore's Ivory White (925) matches the ground on this paper perfectly. It would work for both Pink and Seafoam Multi! If you're looking for a more colorful trim, we'd recommend Ballet Slippers (1331) for Pink Multi and Iced Green (673) for Seafoam Multi. That being said, paint is so subjective and each person actually sees color completely differently. If you're leaning towards another color that you think is best, go for it! The best design decisions are ones you truly love.
- Make custom lamp shades
Check out our lampshade guide to learn how to make a pasted shade using our Verbena wallpaper. This would be perfect for Pink Multi, and for Seafoam Multi, you could even make a shirred fabric shade in our coordinating Burmese Seafoam. In the guide, we list our favorite Etsy sources, tell you how to measure, and make sure you have all the right tools to tackle this project on your own.
- Layer more florals and play with scale
Circe is a fabulous floral chintz that we have and pairs perfectly with Verbena in Pink Multi. My great-grandmother was unafraid - layering all types of florals on top of one another. Why not do the same? For Seafoam Multi, I would play with different scales. It's so fun to layer a small, all-over print like Burmese Seafoam with Verbena and also with a larger scale print like our Brio in Seafoam. These look so pretty when put together despite being different scales.
Burmese - Small Scale
Verbena - Medium Scale
Brio - Large Scale
- Reference your favorite Sister Parish rooms
Sister Parish loved decorating with pink and we recommend being as fearless as she was. Her apartment in New York is a great reference point - the bubblegum curtains and various accents throughout the space work so well with the moodier color she has on the walls. The Kennedy's bedroom is one of my favorite uses of seafoam. When I see this color, I'm immediately at ease.

Make curtains out of Brio Pink or Brio Seafoam. This print looks stunning next to Verbena. We have curtain guides, roman shade guides, and yardage calculators all online to make this process easy!
