Apple's Bedroom in Bedford

Apple's Bedroom in Bedford

Though my grandmother Apple spends most of her time at our family’s Summer House in Maine, during the winters she stays with my mother, Susan Crater, at her home in Bedford, New York. Apple’s bedroom is a garden paradise filled with our Dolly print in Lettuce Green. This space has classic Sister Parish style, with vintage patterns layered on our updated collection of prints. It truly feels like a fresh spring breeze – the perfect green refuge to relax in, especially during the cold winter months!

As I worked on the redesign of my mother’s Bedford home, it was important to me to honor my great grandmother Sister Parish’s iconic aesthetic. Her design style is very much like mine; growing up, I was enchanted by the treasure trove of fabrics, wallpapers, and antiques that fill Sister’s Summer House. Many of the textiles and antiques that Sister collected were incorporated into the Bedford home redesign.

Apple’s room has a real wow-factor, delivered by our Dolly print in Lettuce Green, which adorns the walls and windows. Dolly is one of our most quintessentially “Sister” prints, and it brings a sense of old world charm to any space. The flowers and stripes design harkens back to halcyon days. This print can only be described as pretty – it’s one of our favorites! Click here to shop.

Naturally, this room is resplendent with antique treasures, most of which have been in the family collection for generations. I love how the vintage fabric on the headboard and settee plays off of the delicate lettuce green hue of our Dolly fabric and wallpaper. The hooked rug by the bedside–originally belonging to Sister–adds a charming and playful touch. I know Sister would absolutely love this room, and she’d be delighted to see how we’ve given her antiques a new life in Susan’s Bedford home. I couldn't agree more with Architectural Digest’s description of this space as a “lively genealogical patchwork.” Click here to read Architectural Digest’s feature on the Bedford home!
