Happy Midsummer!
Hello and happy midsummer, As we head into summer peak season, I find myself retreating a little more than going out, so my home space here on the island is even more important. I absorbed and lived my great-grandmother's summer sensibility in the house she created for her family and understood that when she said, "Tradition is the lucky part of my life," she meant it. Some of her traditions were veg from her garden at dinner, slow Sundays on the porch watching her grandchildren play, and the dusk swim before cocktails. All manner of slowing down and being present. Given the intensity of her job, she understood how important that was in her "summer house." Her birthday is August 14th, and summer was her happiest time.
Design Social Pop Up
In between my quest for summer serenity, the beat goes on at Sister Parish, and we have not been slacking. The Design Social pop-up in East Hampton was a special treat as I got to mix it up with Hampton designers and check in with fellow creatives like the very talented Flora Soames, Peter Dunham, Alex Mason, and The Lawns, whose wallpaper was just so good. A real highlight was also my conversation with Mario Nievera and Kaitlin Petersen. There is literally nothing like being inspired by my peers to get the creative juices going.
Introducing Palm Grove Wallpaper
Speaking of creativity, our new Palm Grove wallpaper is coming soon and promises to be one of our most important introductions this year. Sister's favorite adjective for a wonderful house was that it was a "dream." Palm Groves, with its painted palm leaves, is a dream, and the tone it creates is dreamy. Its painterly palms shimmer and move, and the color palette soothes and brings a sense of fun and whimsy to warm weather houses command. We can't wait to show it off!
