Dealers of Note: Palm Beach Regency

Korinne Belock is the owner of Palm Beach Regency, a vintage furniture and décor company with two locations near Palm Beach, Florida. Korinne's shop is where Hollywood Regency flair meets Old Florida charm and is one of our first stops when we're in town. They have a warehouse, design showroom, and online shop all filled with faux bamboo, Chinese Chippendale, rattan, wicker, lucite, pagoda, ginger jars, shells, and every detail in between, all with a nod to the style of sunny South Florida. Korinne tells us how she got started, what she's on the hunt for now, and where else we should shop for vintage finds across Florida.

How did you first fall in love with vintage furniture and decor?

I guess you could say that I’ve always loved pretty things. From stickers and stationery as a child to pouring over design and fashion magazines in my teens and 20s, I’ve always been someone who is “looking at how things look,” if that makes sense. It wasn’t until I started organizing in people’s home in my 30s that I really took note of how people live and use their homes. I think in a lot of ways that combination informs how I curate our vintage.

Tell us about how you got involved with Palm Beach Regency. Where did it all begin? What inspired you to take it over and make it your own?

When we moved to Palm Beach about ten years ago, I discovered Palm Beach Regency. Over the years while furnishing a rental on the island then our home in El Cid, I became friendly with the previous owners of Palm Beach Regency, and in 2020 they asked if I’d be interested in buying the business. It took about two seconds for me to say YES! At the time, I was running my home organization business until COVID made that impossible. It just naturally felt like the right time for a new challenge, for both me and my husband. Fast forward five years!

What is your shop known for? How would you describe the signature aesthetic of Palm Beach Regency?

Palm Beach Regency is a little slice of vintage lovers’ paradise. We’re the dot on the map where Hollywood Regency flair meets Old Florida charm. Typically, we’re known for faux bamboo, Chinese Chippendale, rattan, wicker, lucite, pagodas, ginger jars, shells, and every detail in between that reflect that carefree, classic style of sunny South Florida.

What do you look for when sourcing new inventory? Any qualities, eras, or materials that always catch your eye?

Honestly, it’s anything unique! There are tried and true pieces that I will always source and sell. Of course, we love those finds. But it’s really satisfying to find something truly one-of-a-kind.

Tell us about some of your most memorable sourcing adventures, travel or markets, that led to amazing finds! 1-3 that come to mind.

I grew up in Texas and have been showing at Blue Hills at Round Top for the last four years. When I’m not selling there, I’m on the hunt. If you haven’t made the trip to Round Top for vintage, it’s a must! I’ve been to Marrakech twice in the last ten years, and I’d go back in a heartbeat. I joke with one of my best friends that we need to go back everyone three to five years just to restock our raffia and pottery collections. And I will always return to Guatemala for all the color inspiration! I found the most incredible textiles and treasures in the markets of Chichicastenango and around Lake Atitlan. I can’t wait to go back!

How would you describe Palm Beach style?

Palm Beach is the epicenter of vintage style. There is an innate love here for old, beautiful, unique things from homes to furniture to fashion. I’d describe the style as collected, carefree and coastal chic.

What trends in interior design or vintage collecting are you most excited about right now?

Shells! Color! Rattan! In the past, shells got a bad rap in coastal design, but we’re in a new era! Shells are nature’s art so when done right by a skilled artist on a mirror, furniture or décor accessory, they fly right out of the shop. With vintage there is no lead time for production, so we’ve had great demand for upholstered pieces like pairs of chairs, sofas, and benches in colorful, Palm Beach-y fabrics. Classic Old Florida rattan pieces are really having a moment and mix so well with old and new in a home.

If you could keep just one piece from the shop for your own home, what would it be and why?

Right now, I am on the hunt for an incredible pair of rattan lounge chairs for our front living room. Last year I had my eye on a pair and when I finally decided to bring them home, they sold that same day. That actually happens a lot! I rarely have time to bring home pieces because they sell so quickly. But I’m okay with that!

Can you give us 3 recommendations in Florida for us to shop antiques? Where should we go?

I love to go on the road to source, but I only get to do that a few times a year. So when I do, I truly make it into a mini vacation. I suggest getting a trailer and heading to Mount Dora in Central Florida. Check the show dates first and be ready to hunt. Hit up the Florida Keys with a slow drive from Key Largo to Key West. Stop at every thrift store along the way followed by a stop for a beer and fish dip as your reward. The Vero Beach area, just about an hour and a half north of Palm Beach, is ripe with vintage finds. There are so many local spots where you can still find some deals. End the day with an early dinner right on the ocean.
