Notes on Checks from New Orleans

Notes on Checks from New Orleans

A wedding brought me to New Orleans again in March, and I was able to stay ay my favorite hotel, the magical Hotel Peter & Paul. Because all things checked have been top of mind for me since our recent release of Mahalo wallcoverings, I was even more captivated by the artistry of the hotel's grand design by StudioWTA and ASH NYC.

Every textile in the hotel is a different scale of gingham. From the small-scale lampshades to the large bed hangings, gingham is masterfully woven into all of the interiors, bringing in a wonderful sense of place and history. A nod to the hotel's Swedish influences and the South's love of gingham, the colors are soft, subtle, and perfectly coordinated.

It all comes together in a literal sanctuary (an old convent and rectory, after all) where peace and charm seep through every nook and cranny. The unique, inviting atmosphere conjures New Orleans' rich history and romance, and you simply can't help but be enchanted. Until my next trip, I'll keep revisiting and updating my recommendations for this city, all saved right here.
